I'm Still Here....

I really still am here.... just buried under mountains of work, trying to get ready for Quilt Market in less than 2 weeks- YIKES!!! I finally got Tillie photographed this morning, before the predicted rain starts up again, now I just have to get the cover done before Market.... I think she's very cute, but honestly, I'm so glad she is finally DONE so I can move on with my life!!! I am not sure one can ever be fully prepared to do a large show like Quilt Market- it seems that whenever I get one task done and feel like I'm making a little headway, I think of three more things that I need to do... and I just get overwhelmed again. Deep breaths, deep breaths... and a little prayer or 2 or 3 or 10.... (yes, Brenda and Robin- prayer does work!)

Oh dear, I just heard a crash in the other room, kitty is pretty rambunctious today, and I'm afraid of what I will find when I walk in there....

More Cake...

A few more cakes... This one was actually made by students at the Restaurant School!
I like the way this whole cake shimmered... For some reason, it kind of reminds me of "Beauty and the Beast"... maybe this is what Belle and the Prince's wedding cake looked like...
This cake was based on a wedding gown... It was really incredible...Doesn't this look like the lace on a wedding gown? And those kind of iridescent shimmering thing-y's were made of gelatin, I've never seen anything like it on a cake...

I have tons more photos, I don't know if everyone is tired of seeing them yet... I will probably post some more later this week, or maybe next week.

Well it is cold and blustery and rainy here today, but they promise it will get nicer as the week goes on. For now, I am just drinking a lot of tea and trying to finish up some projects. Still working on Tillie (for the second time, if you remember, since I didn't like the colors that I used the first time around- I feel like I have been working on her forever)- it is just taking soooooo long to get this one done, and I have a bunch of ideas in my head I am just dying to start working on.... but I've really got this one DONE before I start something else. I am still looking for a few good elves, if anyone wants to sign up!
Blocks for Tillie...

Fabrics for Tillie (designers include April Cornell, Anna Griffin, and Sandy Gervais- sounds like the recipe for a yummy quilt!)

I don't know how many of my posts have mentioned that I am still working on Tillie- too many! She is going to be very cute- but enough is enough! She is getting done by tomorrow at the latest (please make sure you hold me to that!!!) Must get to work now- next time you hear from me, she will be done!

Let Them Eat Cake!

The other night, my younger daughter and I once again attended the Let Them Eat Cake! fundraiser for City of Hope, which both treats and researches cancer. The event was held in center city Philadelphia, and the cakes were fabulous! I've chosen a few favorites to show here, I will have to put up a few more in a future post, because they were just stunning! The detail and workmanship that is put into each one is truly amazing... This one was based on A Midsummer's Night Dream...And how cute is this?
I didn't even notice the bamboo in his little mouth till I was looking at the pictures to post here...
It's those little details that make these works of art so special...
I just love the color scheme on this one- reminds me of Good n Plenty candy- remember that?? And the design is so whimsical and fun. The cake was delicious too- chocolate with fudgy chocolate frosting between the layers...
Did I mention that we got to sample the cake too??? AND they give you boxes so you can bring some home?????!!!!! Diet, what diet?? Not this week I tell ya....
I wish you could see them in person because the photos just don't do them justice. We went to this event last year, too. If you want to see photos from last year's gorgeous cakes, click here and here and here.
Well I think I need to go run some laps or something.... have a great weekend!

Easter Revisited

A few photos from Easter dinner at my mom's:
Me and "my girls"... My niece collects Easter eggs on a cool, clear, breezy Easter afternoon....
My other niece admires MomMom's Easter tree...
My youngest nephew fell asleep during dinner (it was a very busy day...)

Goodness, I wish I could sleep like that! Now that my girls are older, I am so glad that I have young nieces and nephews (5 all together). Children make the holidays so much more fun, don't you agree?
Daughter went back to college last night. I am so glad her semester is almost over- I miss having her around. Last night we watched High School Musical 3 and just laughed and laughed.... I found myself humming the songs today (just a little embarassing to admit, but true!)
Quick Update- Just found out that Shelia is having a giveaway for a super cute bag, you'll want to get over there and enter!!!

This is just cool... we're all in this together...

Joyous Resurrection Day

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have put Him!"
So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in. Then Simon Peter, who was behind him, arrived and went into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, as well as the burial cloth that had been around Jesus' head. The cloth was folded up by itself, separate from the linen. Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed. (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.)

Then the disciples went back to their homes, but Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus' body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.
They asked her, "Woman, why are you crying?"

"They have taken my Lord away," she said, "and I don't know where they have put Him." At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.
"Woman," He said, "why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?"
Thinking he was the gardener, she said, "Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have put Him, and I will get Him."

Jesus said to her, "Mary."
She turned toward Him and cried out in Aramaic, "Rabboni!" (which means Teacher).

Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: "I have seen the Lord!" And she told them that He had said these things to her.

On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" After He said this, He showed them His hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
Chapter 20, the book of John

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3

More Show Photos

A few more "artsy" photos from the show (thanks again to hubby). What a great assortment of vendors at this show. Things are starting to get back to normal around here, so that of course means that I am getting ready for..... my next show! haha-It just doesn't seem to end, but it's "sew" much fun. I'm still working on Tillie- she was almost done, but I decided that I really didn't like the colors I had used, so now I'm starting over, oh well. Millie will just have to wait a little while longer for Tillie to come out and play.
