Happy 2009


A few wishes for the New Year...

I am not making any resolutions this year. I spent most of my life looking forward to January 1 for a fresh start (I will exercise! I will stay on my diet! I will not procrastinate!) None of them ever lasted more than a few days!

I look forward to every day being a fresh start. I have a tendency to be a "Martha" (as in the Bible, not Stewart... see below*****) to get caught up in the day to day grind and miss opportunities to laugh and enjoy life and my loved ones. My only "resolution" to myself will be to try to remember to stop and ask myself several times a day- Is this the best use of my time right now? Am I glorifying God?

*****As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!"
"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."

Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed,

    I totally agree with the relolutions for the new year. I am, however, setting myself a few goals. One of which is to spent time daily with the Lord and reading of his word. Thanks for sharing the scripture. I DO ENJOY YOUR BLOG!

  4. Hi! Thank you for the nice comments about my finally finished pillow from my UFO stash! LOL! It's one of my New Year's Resolutions! Get out that stuff from the basket and make it into something!

Having been a paper artist for over twenty years I decided it was time to learn something new, so punchneedle and stitchery patterns are what I am concentrating on at the moment.   8. What you wrote is similar in ways to how I am approaching 2009. I haven't made resolutions but I have addressed the goal of getting UFOs and WIPs done if possible. Sort of a quilter/sticher's cleaning house thing. When I make promises to myself I merely am setting myself up for failure and who needs that. I am, however, striving to pay more attention to each day as it comes and to attempt to make the most of it. Happy New Year to you and may it be one of blessings, day by day.
