Fun at the Show

Here are a couple of my pals that I get to see once a year at this show.

This is Dottie from Sew Crazy. She specializes in redwork and the like. She always has helpful encouragement and advice. A wonderful lady!

This is Sandy, she is also a pattern designer and works a lot with wool and also designs redwork patterns. She does not have a site yet, but she promises to work on that! Another fun lady!

I've met a lot of great people at this show, vendors and customers alike. It's always nice to meet kindred spirits, people who love to create beautiful things and who appreciate others' work. I'm having a great time! I'm also getting a lot of positive response to my new patterns, and people tell me they think my booth is beautiful. Overheard in my booth: country but modern, refreshing, stunning. Stunning...Really?!?

Thanks to everyone who stopped by, it was great meeting you all. Thanks for all of your kind words, encouragement and support- really, I mean that from the bottom of my heart, it means so much to me.

One more day to go here. Looking forward to getting home (I hear that the dog misses me terribly.)

Here at the Show

As it turns out I have wi-fi at my hotel, so here are a few quick pix of my booth here at the show. Yesterday business was pretty slow, but today it picked up quite a bit. Hoping for 3 more good days!

I'm Off!

This will probably be my last post till I get back from the quilt show. Today is a busy busy day, trying to get everything together to go set up tomorrow.

Around last Thursday I started designing this tote and had this crazy idea that I could finish it and assemble a pattern for the upcoming show. Somehow, miraculously, I got it done! I love the way this came out- I used a lot of fabrics from the Folklorique collection by Fig Tree Quilts (Moda).

Happy Easter

The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. Better than Prozac?

I hit a few quilt shops today and this is what I brought home with me. Once I got home, unloaded the car, picked my daughter up from school, made dinner, straightened up a bit...I was exhausted. I whined to my family that the only thing that might make me feel better was to display all of my new fabrics on the floor, so I could appreciate all their beauty and glory. And then, mostly for the amusement of my family, I got down on the floor.......and I rolled around on them. (Sorry if this is too much information.) And don't roll your eyes- I'll bet some of you have done it too. It did make me feel better, much better in fact.

Feeling Lazy

Today I am just tired- I have tons to do for my upcoming quilt show, but I just don't feel like doing any of it. So here I sit, surfing around the interweb, but I don't even feel like doing that. My brain just feels foggy, you know?

So I am watching Pride and Prejudice (2005), just love it- the photography, the music, the costumes. Sometimes I think I'd like to have lived during that era, but then I consider the lack of, well, hygiene, indoor plumbing.... I guess I really wouldn't be cut out for that.

If you love romance, fabulous costumes, lovely music, humor, the charm of the 18th century English countryside, and you haven't seen this movie- you must!

Just a Few More Bites...

Just a few more cake photos. Do your teeth hurt yet? I am just awestruck at the workmanship that goes into these works of art. Stunning. I asked one of the bakers if it breaks her heart to cut into one of these beauties after spending so much time on them, she said she's used to it. I just don't think I could do it, I think if I spent that much time on a cake, I'd put it under glass and display it in my living room for at least a few years.

This Mardi Gras themed caked was complete with edible masks.

Let Them Eat Cake

The name of the event we went to was called Let Them Eat Cake, sponsored by Philadelphia Wedding magazine, and it was a fundraiser for cancer research. In addition to getting to eat cake all night, we also got goodie bags filled with tons of samples, mostly salon products. Really nice stuff!!!
















Of course, all of the flowers are completely edible- and incredible!
