It's Always Something

My daughter called home yesterday morning at about 7:20 am, saying she was really sick again and didn't know what to do. I immediately drove up to pick her up and took her to the doctor here at home. Her doctor thinks she does not have mono, but has an abcess on her tonsil. So this morning we had to go to the ENT first thing, and she is now on steroids in addition to the antibiotics and Vicodin (for severe throat pain.) Hopefully, she will respond to treatment soon and no further intervention will be needed (I won't get into the icky details). We hope that she will be able to go back to class on Monday. And to top it off, they are admitting my grandmother to the hospital this afternoon for pneumonia; I will try to get to the hospital (about 40 minutes away) tomorrow to see her. So around here we eating lots of chicken soup and taking Vitamin C and trying to stay healthy.

It's always something, isn't it? Just when you think you are ready to coast along, some bump in the road appears. When I looked at my calendar on Monday morning, I had almost nothing scheduled for the week and figured I'd spend just about every day in the studio. Alas, it has been a very unproductive week, so far. Oh well, that's just the way it goes. I'm just glad that I have the flexibility to be around for my family when they need me, I realize that a lot of people don't have that option. Maybe I'll get something done tonight after dinner. Or maybe I'll just hang out on the sofa with my daughter, a bowl of ice cream, and the remote- sounds good right about now!

Hope you are all staying well and healthy. Happy Wednesday (we're over the hump! Weekend, here we come!)

  2. Hi Jacquelynne,
I'm so glad you posted a update on your daughter-Sounds like she has great doctors-Getting her right in like that. I would do just as you suggested-Grab a big bowl of ice cream and hunker down with some movies for the night. I think I have watched Pride and Prejudice & You've got mail a bizzillion times! :)
I will keep your daughter in my prayers too.

  3. I know what you mean about "just when you think you have nothing to do up comes something totally unexpected!" Like you, I have had flexibility to drop things and help out my son or daughter or my folks. It is a blessing in itself to be able to do that for not everyone has that luxury. I'll add your daughter to my prayers and hope she is much better soon and she will be back in class on Monday and you'll be back in the studio!

  4. I know what you mean! The past two Christmas' my dad gotten sick and had to be hospitalized! Last Christmas I took a few vacation days after Christmas so my kids and I could bake cookies, but wound up spending the time with Daddy in a hospital 70 miles from here. At least the year before that he was in the hospital here in town. I have put in to take vacation time again at Christmas this year as my daughter will be home from college. I am just praying Daddy doesn't get sick and have to be hospitalized again this year! I'm praying he doesn't get sick at all! I will pray for your daughter and grandmother to get well quickly.
    Have a Blessed Day,
    Diane

  5. i will also be praying for your daughter. My daughter had mono last year and it really got her down. She wasn't taking care of herself that first year of college with so much stress. I sure hope your daughter is feeling better soon.
