What's Going on in the Studio Today

I am working on finishing up this project- the hand applique is all done and I am working on borders, etc. Sometimes I design an entire quilt on paper before I start it, but more often than not, I have a general idea of what I want to do and design it as I go. Originally, this particular design was just going to be a wall hanging, but then I decided to make the appliqued portion the center of a larger project.

I love the fabrics in this project- I know, I know- I say that for all of my projects!!! For me, color is always the starting point and most important part of any creative endeavor- whether it's a quilt, a painting, or a room that I am decorating.

Of all God's gifts to the sighted man, color is holiest, the most divine, the most solemn.
John Ruskin (1819-1900) English art critic

  1. Jacquelynne,
Thanks for stopping by and visiting me.I am trying my best at decorating. Sometimes I will wake up in the middle of the night and think of something. It's so funny! But I have a long way to go.I love your site. And, it's always nice to come and visit it to get a word of encouragemnt from God's word. I appreciate you posting it on your site. By the way I love what you are working on. And to be able to think uo a pattern for a quilt is unbelievable!! That is awesome. Maybe one day the Lord will give me the courage and the wisdom to be able to do that. in the meantime Have a blessed day.

  2. Oh, this looks interesting, Jacquelynn. Can't wait to see the entire piece. By the way, I picked up the copy of Create and Decorate with you project in it. I am still thinking I will do it in wool. Sound okay?

  7. Wow. I am jealous. I don't have a creative bone in my body.

Thanks for weighing in on our political discussion- I also am nervous and SO ready for it to be over!
