I Love Applique Giveaway
Do you love appliqué? Me too! Whether done by hand or machine, I love the added personality and interest that appliqué gives to a sewn project. Being an artist (watercolors, mostly), I always find myself drawing and doodling, and a quilt just doesn’t seem complete to me until it has some flowers or birds or some kind of motif added. I think almost every quilt design I have ever published has featured some sort of appliqué. It just seems to add so much to the “story” of the quilt design.
And appliqué is not just for quilts- try adding an appliqué to a pillow, table cloth, or give new life to an older garment with appliqué. Vintage clothing is so popular right now- if you have a piece of clothing that has a hole or spot on it- cover up the offending blemish with an adorable appliqued flower or bird and voila!: instant clothing makeover.
I like the process of hand appliqué and I love the look of hand appliqué, but truth be told, I am a very impatient person. I have barely sketched out an idea (let alone actually completed it) before my brain is conjuring up the next project (I know you can relate!) So I am really into instant gratification with my projects, which is why I like fusible machine appliqué- it’s quick and easy and lets me get on to my next project fast. Click here for my Free Fusible Machine Applique Tutorial. (My favorite tip: Don't let your machine boss you around! Don't we all feel that way sometimes- that our machine is in charge instead of us!!)
I am sponsoring 2 giveaways this week. One will be at Quilting Gallery- hurry on over and submit a photo of a favorite appliqué project you have done. The winner will receive a bundle of Fat Quarters from my Sewing Room Social Fabric line and a free pattern (retail value $53.00). (And even if you don’t have a project to submit- make sure you stop by and vote for your favorite!)
The second giveaway will be right here on my blog. To enter, go to my website and choose your favorite quilt pattern featuring appliqué, then come back here and comment and tell me what it is. The winner here will receive 3 free patterns and a pile of other goodies (retail value $45.00). Winner will be drawn at random, you must comment by midnight EDT on Sunday April 10.
You may enter both giveaways. Good Luck and Happy Monday!

My favorite pattern is the Basket of Posies. I like the flowers and I think the half circle border is very unique! I enjoy doing blanket-stitch machine applique. It is a nice change of pace from piecing.
ReplyDeleteMy absolute favorite pattern is the "Bee Happy Bee Joyful" pattern. Bees are my favorite because of the fact that aerodynamically they should not be able to fly, but All things are possible with God!! They remind me of who God is and who I am in Him! Thanks for the chance to win!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Renee
I do machine applique but I am not the best at it.
ReplyDeleteI think I like the Bee Happy one. Maybe because it is Spring. But the Romance is so pretty too. Well, and Hugs n Kisses. Oh, do we have to choose a favorite??

I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the My Romance Quilt Pattern!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour Dress your Nest collection is by far the best! Modern fresh spring...feels good!
ReplyDeleteI love the LADYBUG quilt! Sew cute! Your patterns are adorable!
ReplyDeleteMy Romance Quilt and the Savannah Wool Table Topper are both beautiful, as is everything else. Your designs are charming.
ReplyDeleteIt was hard to chose, but the Basket of Posies pattern is the one I like best. It just makes me smile. And the minimal amount of piecing appeals to me to as that is my least favorite part of making any quilt. I would much rather be doing applique, quilting or binding any day than piecing. I know I am in the minority with that, but it is who I am.
ReplyDeleteI like the Flutterby pattern best, because I love dragonflies!
ReplyDeleteI like several of your patterns but am into small projects right now so I would have to say the Darling Daisy Table Runner and Place mats are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. First time to your blog and lots of eye candy to savor!! I loved all your quilts, but when I saw "My Romance", ooooh, what a beautiful quilt. I can just imagine that quilt in my bedroom. My second choice, would be your new "Dress Your Nest" collection. Would really appeal to my daughter and she just moved into her new home. Would make nice housewarming gift. So bright and cheerful!
ReplyDeleteI like your blog design. I think my favorite quilt design is your new dress your nest design. Your other designs are very nice but this is my favorite. It must be the white and blue colours and the idea that Spring must be on the way.... isn't it?

ReplyDeleteI just love the Bee Happy piece, it is so fun and happy.
ReplyDeleteIt would make a wonderful piece to give as gifts to those who need a pick me up.
I have done needle turn, but I want to do fusible applique too. I got wonder under and like the heavy and lighter weight, depending on the project. My machine is finally being fixed today, so now I can get back to my projects tomorrow.

I really like the hugs and kisses pattern! http://www.thenoblewife.com/item_106/NEW-Hugs-n-Kisses-Quilt-Pattern.htm
ReplyDeleteI think it may be because of the red, blue and brown (or black?) together, that's a great combo. But I also like the theme :) and how it looks like a traditional quilt but it expresses a very sweet idea!
